Keeping juniors safe

Everything a parent or guardian needs to know about how we look after young players — at the club and on this website.

Worried about a child?

Speak to our Club Welfare Officer hello@glossopsquash.com. You can also call the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000. If a child is in immediate danger, always call 999.

Glossop Squash is a not-for-profit community club affiliated to England Squash, and we take our responsibility to keep children and young people safe seriously. Junior coaching is run by our England Squash accredited, DBS-checked coach, and everyone involved with juniors follows England Squash's safeguarding policy.

Our commitment

  • Every child has the right to enjoy squash in a safe, fun and positive environment.
  • Our junior coach is DBS-checked and England Squash accredited, and we follow England Squash's safeguarding standards.
  • We listen to young people and take any concern about a child's welfare seriously and act on it promptly.

How junior accounts work on the website

Junior places are set up and managed by a parent or guardian, who stays our main point of contact. When you book your child in we collect only what we need — your child's name, and a parent or guardian's contact details — and booking confirmations and club notices come to you, not the child.

Payments — you're always in control

A junior account can book sessions and buy from the shop, but it never stores a card and can never charge one automatically. Every payment is entered and confirmed fresh on Stripe's secure page — with your bank's 3-D Secure check — each time. A child can't trigger a charge on a saved (parent's) card, and no card details are ever kept on the account or seen by us.

Photos and media

We sometimes take photos or short videos at sessions and events to celebrate the club. We ask for a parent or guardian's consent before using any image of a junior, and you can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing us — just let us know and we'll remove it.

Your child's information

We hold as little as possible, use it only to run sessions and keep you informed, and never sell it or share it for marketing. It's visible only to club administrators and the coach. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store card numbers. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your child's data at any time. See our privacy policy for the full detail.

Signing your child up

Everyone's first junior session is free — just come along. To book ahead, create a free account as the parent or guardian and book your child's place from the juniors page. If you'd like a hand, or want to chat anything through first, message us on WhatsApp or email hello@glossopsquash.com — we're happy to help.

Raising a concern

If you're ever worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child at the club, please tell us — no concern is too small. Contact our Club Welfare Officer using the details at the top of this page. You can also contact England Squash's safeguarding team, or the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000. In an emergency, or if a child is in immediate danger, call 999.
